Mark studied at the Royal Northern College of Music from 1969-1973 and has since enjoyed a successful and varied professional career as a trumpet player with many famous orchestras. He was the lead trumpeter at the Ritz Ballroom, Manchester from 1972-1979, and from 1979-1987 he did several seasons on cruise liners includeding the Cunard ‘Countess’, the ‘Navarino’, the ‘Astor’, and three seasons on the ‘QE2’.


During the 1980’s he played for many theatre shows, and did recordings for TV, radio and films. He was also lead trumpeter for the ‘Shades of Kenton Jazz Orchestra’ from 1983-2003.

In 1988 Mark joined the American Rock group ‘Dr. Hook’ and for two years was constantly touring the world.

Mark leads 3 of his own bands and has played in many prestigious locations in the UK, across Europe and in the USA.

The M. G. Band is a small Function Band able to provide music for all occasions. Weddings, Celebrations, Dances, and Dinner Jazz are just some of the functions this band has played for in the past.

The band has an extensive music library and plays a broad range of styles:
